Anderlecht seek big Blues bid

Anderlecht remain convinced Chelsea are still keen to sign Romelu Lukaku but have warned they will need to offer "a serious sum".

Lukaku keen on Chelsea move
Lukaku focused on exams

Lukaku, 18, has been linked with many of the biggest clubs in Europe but he has indicated that he wants to secure a move to Chelsea.

It was claimed that a deal was close to completion earlier this summer, but the Belgium striker remains at Anderlecht and there have been reports that Andre Villas-Boas is not convinced over the signing.

Anderlecht believe the Blues are still keen on Lukaku, but they insist he will only depart at the right price.

The club's general manager, Herman Van Holsbeeck, said: "We will only sell if the player, the buyers and Anderlecht are better for it. Right now that isn't the situation.

"Many clubs have shown interest but we want a serious transfer sum, so it may still take some time, and if we can't sort it out we will have him as a star striker at Anderlecht next season. There is a rumour that the new Chelsea coach doesn't fancy Romelu, but those people clearly have different information to us."

Chairman Roger Vanden Stock added: "Lukaku himself says it will be Chelsea and so I guess it will be Chelsea - but they're not going to give us the money just like that. They want to keep the price as low as possible.

"We will see what happens. We're not worried. I think Lukaku will eventually move to England but if he stays with us for another year, that is fine as well. We are patient and we don't desperately need the money."
