Sack Arsenal board - Bracewell-Smith

Former Arsenal director Lady Bracewell-Smith has launched an attack on the club's current board, claiming they should all be sacked for failing to take the club forward.

Bracewell-Smith, whose family have a long association with Arsenal, was axed from the board in December 2008 and in April 2011 sold her 15.9% holding to Stan Kroenke, which paved the way for the American to launch a full-blown takeover.

No official reason was given for Bracewell-Smith's departure from the board, but she claimed on Tuesday that she was "caught in the cross fire" of a "war" between former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein, who left the club in 2007, and late director Danny Fiszman.

Bracewell-Smith also suggested that continued in fighting between key figures in the Emirates hierarchy is hampering the club's progression and that a complete clear out is required.

"I agree that the current board should all go," Bracewell-Smith said on Twitter. "They are passe. Have nothing more to give to the club at all."

The current board comprises chairman Peter Hill-Wood - who sacked Bracewell-Smith - chief executive Ivan Gazidis, directors Ken Friar, Sir Chips Keswick, Lord Harris of Peckham and Kroenke; Alisher Usmanov, who has a 29% stake in Arsenal, does not have a seat on the board.

Bracewell-Smith added: "In time we will need a more dynamic pro-active younger board, and a good directional leadership."

The former board member also rejected calls from some fans for the return of Dein, linked to Usmanov's Red & White Holdings group, claiming he was "the root cause of all the troubles at AFC" and was "unable to work with other board members".

However, on Tuesday she posted a clarification, adding: "I stand corrected. Dein loves the club and although sometimes personalities fall out, his contribution at Arsenal has been immense."
