Aluko still in England contention - Marley

Hamsik keen on AC Milan move

Napoli star Marek Hamsik has revealed he is eager to secure a move to AC Milan this summer.

Slovakia international Hamsik, who turns 24 next month, arrived in Italy with Brescia in 2004 and has been with Napoli since 2007. However, he has regularly been linked with a move away from the club and Milan are now thought to be leading the race for his services.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has indicated that he has no desire to sell the player and Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani ruled out a move earlier this month, but Hamsik believes the move is still a possibility.

"It's not easy to say when it's the right time to leave," he told Slovakian newspaper Pravda. "I got a lot out of the last four years, and every season I've grown, I've moved forward.

"[Massimiliano] Allegri and Galliani say AC Milan would take me. I would love to wear their shirt. I'd consider it a step forwards in my career.

"I'm not old yet, but the truth is that in my professional career I haven't yet won anything - neither the league nor a cup. I'd be happy if I won some trophies. It's time to start."

He added: "Pre-season begins in mid-July, but where I will be remains open. I'm not ruling out either [AC Milan or Napoli].

"I don't want to leave Italy. I've been in this country for seven years - I've learned the language and made a name for myself here. I feel good because I fit in well with the Italian way of life."

Asked if it would be a problem that Napoli do not want to sell him, he said: "Yes, that's true, but nothing is certain, and there are still discussions still to be had."

Milan defender Gianluca Zambrotta had earlier praised Hamsik.

" He's a good player," Zambrotta said. "He scores, makes good runs into the box and is capable of making assists. I think that Allegri wants Hamsik, but he's the type of player that everybody wants because of his skills and characteristics."

Meanwhile, Napoli have decided against making a move for 19-year-old River Plate attacking midfielder Erik Lamela.

De Laurentiis told Marte Sport Live: "It'll take a lot of hard work to sign him and I'm not sure it is worth investing the kind of figures needed. If the player came here for nothing then we could talk about it, but he's a player who only has potential, and sometimes potential doesn't turn into reality."
