No Capello-Inter move, Hiddink linked

Fabio Capello is yet to be tempted by the lure of the imminent Inter Milan job vacancy, according to sources closest to him, as Guus Hiddink becomes the latest name linked with the deposed Italian champions.

• Capello linked with Inter
• Leonardo to quit Inter

Pierfilippo Capello, the England manager's son, lawyer and agent, denied to ESPNsoccernet that he had given an interview confirming that Inter Milan have approached his father.

Capello Junior refused to comment on the Inter interest as he stressed that he was unaware of any approaches and denied that quotes attributed to him were genuine.

Capello Senior, the former AC Milan manager, was to be offered £20 million tax-free over three years, according to those reports. He currently earns £6 million per annum as England manager, but would pick up big bonuses for qualifying for the European Championships and for taking England to the last four or even the final.

The 65-year-old intends to honour that contract, but that could change if Inter approach the FA, and table a counter-offer to Capello, or indeed if England failed to qualify in November.

Inter, who are set to lose Leonardo as coach to a sporting director's position at Paris Saint-Germain, and who have been linked with abortive moves for Andre Villas-Boas and Marcelo Bielsa, have now denied making a move for Capello or the English FA.

"We are not interested in Capello. There are still no developments on the coaching front," said sporting director Marco Branca.

Hiddink has become the latest name to be linked with Inter, and his agent suggested the Dutchman may be interested.

"We have never spoken to (Inter president Massimo) Moratti," Van Nieuwenhuizen told Gazzetta dello Sport. "Hiddink has a contract with the Turkish federation and therefore before any talks can begin, Moratti must contact the (Turkish) federation and say he is interested in Guus.

"He is contracted until 2012 so, for the time being, there is no possibility that he can coach Inter.

"If Inter reached an agreement with Turkey? Well at that point Hiddink would certainly evaluate the Nerazzurri offer but he is a professional and he has never broken a contract in his whole career."

Despite concerns over Capello and his salary, and the England performances of the last 18 months, the FA have no ready-made replacement for the Italian.

Suggestions that Harry Redknapp is virtually guaranteed to take over are believed to be wide of the mark, which leaves Roy Hodgson as the most likely pair of safe hands in case of a sudden defection by Capello. Martin O'Neill still enjoys support within the FA hierarchy.
