Borussia Dortmund will open the defence of their Bundesliga crown at home to Hamburg on August 5.
The Bundesliga fixtures were announced on Tuesday morning with Jurgen Klopp's men starting out first at the Westfalenstadion on a Friday night with other round one highlights seeing Bayern Munich, under new coach Jupp Heynckes, hosting Borussia Monchengladbach and last season's 2.Bundesliga champions Hertha Berlin taking on Nurnberg at the Olympiastadion.
The other newly-promoted team, Augsburg, are also at home and will face Freiburg.
Last season's Champions League semi-finalists Schalke open up at Stuttgart while 2010/11 runners-up Bayer Leverkusen visit Mainz.
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc described the Hamburg clash as "an exciting season opener'' while German Football League chairman Christian Seifert added: "We hope we have succeeded in meeting the demands of the fans, media partners and sponsors.''
Dortmund and Bayern are expected to contest the title this season.
The first meeting between the two sides comes in Munich on the weekend starting November 18 with the return slated for Tuesday, April 10.
