Galaxy maintain advantage

Los Angeles continued to command Major League Soccer's Western Conference, with a 3-1 win over the Colorado maintaining their six-point cushion at the summit.

Kansas City 1-0 San Jose

Colorado did not help themselves, Caleb Folan sent off in the second half and Drew Moor breaking the deadlock with an own goal. Juninho and Chad Barrett also scored for the Galaxy, while Conor Casey grabbed the hosts' consolation.

FC Dallas kept within six points of the leaders with a 2-1 win over Chivas USA. Brek Shea and Goncalves Jackson scored either side of Michael Lahoud's effort for Chivas.

Penalties in either half from Edgar Espindola and Charlie Davies ensured a 1-1 draw between Real Salt Lake and DC United.

Seattle Sounders overcame the sending-off of Jhon Hurtado to seal a last-gasp 1-0 win against Toronto FC, Freddy Montero on hand with the 90th-minute winner.

Philadelphia Union missed the chance to leapfrog the New York Red Bulls at the top of the Eastern standings as they lost 1-0 to Vancouver Whitecaps.

Terry Dunfield scored the only goal, leaving Philadelphia tied on 22 points with New York.

Columbus went above opponents Houston into third place with a 2-0 victory. Andres Mendoza and Bernardo Anor were on target for Columbus, who had Lovel Palmer sent off early in the second half.

Goals from Dominic Oduro and Rajko Lekic saw New England draw 1-1 with Chicago Fire.
