Giovinco set to stay at Parma

Sebastian Giovinco's agent claims that the midfielder will be at Parma next season, despite new Juventus coach Antonio Conte's desire to bring him back to Turin.

Giovinco was on loan at Parma from the Old Lady last year, with an option to buy 50% of the player's rights for a fee of €3.5 million included as part of the deal. Parma are expected to take up this option and now his agent has said he will be staying put for the time being.

"[Giovinco] has economic rights that are held in joint ownership. However, Parma hold the sporting rights to field him next season,'' Andrea D'Amico told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"At the moment, the plan is to continue with Parma, unless there are any major breakthroughs between both clubs. For now, Sebastian will stay put. We all know that anything can happen in the transfer market, though, so we have to be cautious."

Giovinco scored seven goals in 30 Serie A appearances for Parma last season and has been tipped as the player to haul Juventus back into contention for the Scudetto.

Meanwhile, Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon has reiterated his intention to remain with the Bianconeri.

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has confirmed he will remain at the Turin giants next season.

However, Buffon said to Gazzetta dello Sport: ''I remain and I will return to be the Buffon I once was. I feel a lot of love for Juve. In the past year with the club there have been some misunderstandings but I don't want to blame anyone.

''The club executives have learned to know me better and, I hope, to also appreciate me more. Hence, there's no doubt about my future. I will remain at Juve 100%.''

Buffon is under contract with the Turin giants until June 2013 and is eager to help the club return to their former glory. Juve, who appointed former midfielder Antonio Conte as their new coach earlier this month, will miss out on European football next season.

''I think next term we can do good things,'' Buffon said. ''Conte called me up and said to me important words that make me feel part of the project.''
