Hiddink denies asking for Sneijder at Blues

Guus Hiddink has denied reports he has been in talks with Chelsea about becoming the club's new manager, or told the Blues to sign Wesley Sneijder from Inter.

The Blues are looking for a new manager after the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti, with the Dutchman believed to be owner Roman Abramovich's preferred choice. Hiddink, however, has once again denied he is on the verge of a move to Stamford Bridge and insists he remains committed to his current job with the Turkish national side.

"After Belgium-Turkey [last week] I went to South Korea. I did not go on holiday, I went to one of my projects in the country where I worked during the World Cup of 2002. I do a lot of work for charity there," Hiddink told De Telegraaf.

"I am busy creating lots of pitches, in particular for handicapped people. When I got back to Europe I was confronted with all sorts of stories, saying I had told Chelsea to sign Sneijder. "I am not making a fuss about any of the other stories, but I have to make it clear there has been no contact between the club and me in the last couple of weeks. I have enough on my plate trying to get Turkey to the Euro finals."

Nevertheless, the Turkish FA are suspicious of the Premier League club's overtures towards their manager, and have threatened to report the whole case to FIFA.

"Chelsea have a record of signing players while under contract," Turkish football president Mahmut Ozgener said. "If the same thing happens with Hiddink, we will make a file of the payments we made to Hiddink and we will go to FIFA."

Sneijder, meanwhile, has seemingly backtracked on recent comments suggesting he never wants to leave Inter.

"The Inter fans have always treated me very well. They were wonderful and I want to simply thank them," he said. "Only God will decide where my future lies. I can be certain of one thing: if I remain at Inter, then I will give my all to win everything again."
