MLS: Galaxy held by Toronto

Los Angeles Galaxy were held to a thrilling 2-2 draw by Toronto FC but remain five points clear at the top of Major League Soccer's Western Conference.

Chris Birchall put Galaxy in front inside two minutes, a lead that lasted over an hour until Alan Gordon levelled.

There was plenty of drama to come, with Juan Pablo Angel and Gordon, with a second, both scoring in the closing moments to turn 1-1 into 2-2.

Second-placed Seattle Sounders drew 2-2 with bottom club Vancouver Whitecaps, with three goals in the last 10 minutes.

Vancouver went ahead when Eric Hassli slammed home a 29th-minute penalty before Mauro Rosales and Osvaldo Alonso turned the tables.

Their lead lasted just a minute before Hassli's second.

Philadelphia Union drew 1-1 with Real Salt Lake to go level with Red Bull New York at the top of the MLS Eastern Conference.

Heon Daniel gave the home side the advantahe after 24 minutes before Edgar Espindola levelled matters in the 53rd minute.

The result puts them alongside New York on 22 points with a game in hand.

San Jose Earthquakes were 4-2 winners over DC United, courtesy of Steven Lenhart's hat-trick.

The scores were tied at half-time as Andy Najar and Blake Brettschneider cancelled out Lenhart's brace.

Simon Dawkins' effort and Lenhart's hat-trick effort sealed the points.

Drew Moor scored a dramatic 90th-minute winner as Colorado Rapids beat Portland Timbers 1-0.

Houston Dynamo defeated Chivas 2-1, with a Geoff Cameron effort and a Heath Pearce own-goal overturning Marcos Mondaini's opener.
