Seedorf: My heart told me to stay
Midfielder Clarence Seedorf claims that he penned a one-year extension at AC Milan because of his love for the club.
The 35-year-old's contract was set to expire this summer before he agreed to an extension.
The former Dutch international played an important part in Milan's Serie A-winning campaign last season, but admits he is uncertain of how many games he will play for the Rossoneri next season.
"I didn't ask for anything," Seedorf told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I didn't meet with coach Massimiliano Allegri and yet I signed anyway. I just wanted to stay here."
"I was given no guarantees. After all, after 900 games in my career, what could I possibly have asked Allegri? My heart told me to stay in order to win the Scudetto and the Champions League.
Seedorf joined Milan in 2002 from city-rivals Inter and is 19 appearances shy of 300 for the Italian giants. His four league goals in 30 total appearances for the club helped Milan win their first scudetto since 2004.
