Baines happy with big name links

Everton left-back Leighton Baines claims to be in the dark over his team's summer transfer plans, but says he is pleased with his club being linked to some top players like Miroslav Klose, who has recently cut ties with Bayern Munich.

Baines, the Toffees' Player of the Season, continued to impress on the international stage on Saturday when he crossed for Ashley Young's equalising strike, which helped England fight back and secure a point in a 2-2 draw with Switzerland in their Euro 2012 Group G qualifier. But when asked to comment on manager David Moyes' transfer targets, Baines can only speculate.

"We're never sure where we're at," Baines says, "As players we know just about as much as you and anyone else. We hear things and just wait and see who comes through the door."

"It is nice (to be linked with Klose) and I think it's a bit of fun for the fans in the summer when we get linked with all these names. But as players we tend not to get sucked into it all too much. We just go away, enjoy the summer, come back for pre-season and hope a few good faces do come through the door."

Everton, who finished seventh in the Premier League table last year, will be hoping to avoid another tumultuous start to their campaign and claim a place back in Europe next season.
