Deschamps set for Roma talks
Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini will meet Marseille coach Didier Deschamps soon to discuss the Serie A club's managerial role.
The Eternal City outfit are expected to replace Vincenzo Montella this summer, with Deschamps and Barcelona B coach Luis Enrique among the favourites for the post.
Sabatini told L'Equipe: ''I will certainly meet with Didier Deschamps soon. We have already spoken several times on the phone. There is already a willingness to come to Rome. Deschamps would be a good choice.''
OM president Jean-Claude Dassier on Monday pleaded with the former France midfielder to remain at the Stade Velodrome and expressed his confidence he would stay.
Dassier told the Marseille website: ''He plays around with reporters, but for me there is no shadow of a doubt - he will be the coach of Olympique Marseille next season. I think the rumours in the press have become a bit of a campaign to destabilise. This was not innocent.''
He added: ''Didier loves OM and the city, but is also a great professional. I remain convinced that he will be with us, and we will confirm in the next few days.
''I think it's more a form of appeal on his part. Maybe he wants to be told we love him... Well I say, 'Didier, yes, we love you, and we would like you to stay!'''
Former Barca and Spain midfielder Luis Enrique revealed earlier this week that he has spoken to Roma.
The 41-year-old told Sky Italia: ''I have had contact with the Roma directors. It's an attractive proposal. I know that they have several options at their disposal, as have I. Before making a decision, I must carefully ponder every aspect.''
