Modric admits Spurs exit 'possible'

Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric insists he is happy at White Hart Lane but admits a move away from the club "is of course possible", should a large offer come in for him.

Modric, 25, has five-years left on his Spurs contract but, after another impressive season, Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly ready to table big-money bids for him.

The loss of the Croatian playmaker would be a huge blow to Tottenham's chances of pushing for Champions League qualification next term and manager Harry Redknapp stressed two months ago that Modric would not be for sale at any price this summer.

Redknapp told Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti: "I wouldn't want to sell him for £100 million. Not even for a billion. He's the hub of the team."

But while Modric is happy to honour his contract and remain at the club he moved to from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008, the midfielder is willing to entertain the idea of leaving Spurs in order to play in the Champions League again.

Speaking ahead of Croatia's Euro 2012 qualifier against Georgia, Modric told Jutarnji List: "Everybody wants to know what will happen with me. I'm trying to stay calm as my national team has a really important match coming. So I will tell you the same as all ways - my club status is the same as it was before.

"But of course, if there will be an offer which will be good for Tottenham and for me also, then a transfer is of course possible.

"That doesn't mean that I'm bothered with leaving Tottenham - I'm not thinking about that every hour and every minute. I'm happy at White Hart Lane - my status is great, the fans like me and I do have everything I need.

"But then again - when you experience playing in Champions League, you want to keep playing in this tournament."
