Villa release Reo-Coker, Carew, Pires
Aston Villa have released 10 players after their contracts expired, including midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker.
Reo-Coker, 27, failed to agree new terms with the club he joined in 2007 and the former West Ham United captain joins Norway striker John Carew and veteran French midfielder Robert Pires in leaving Villa Park.
Togo's Moustapha Salifou and academy graduate Isaiah Osbourne have also left the club, along with youngsters Harry Forrester, Arsenio Halfhuid, Durrell Berry, Ellis Deeney and Calum Flanagan.
Reo-Coker was brought to the Birmingham outfit by former boss Martin O'Neill and the player's representatives have claimed he is being tracked by Champions League teams.
Former Lyon and Valencia target man Carew has been on loan at FA Cup finalists Stoke City since January, while World Cup winner Pires signed a short-term contract in late 2010.
Pires has recently slammed Villa for showing him a lack of respect during his short stay in the West Midlands.
