Pirlo out to end title drought

New Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo believes he has more than enough fuel in the tank to help the Turin giants end their Serie A title drought.

• Pirlo signs for Juve

Pirlo, who signed a three-year contract with the club on Monday, had spent the previous 10 seasons with AC Milan but has now turned his attention to helping Juve try and win their first scudetto since the 2002-03 campaign.

At his unveiling today, the 32-year-old said: "I chose Juve because among Milan and Inter, it is the most important club in Italy, in Europe and in the world. They want to return to winning titles as they have not done that in a few years.

"I am someone who likes to win and I think that this team has the biggest will and motivation to return to lift titles. This is why I chose Juve.''

Pirlo has been one of Milan's most consistent performers for the past decade, helping them win two Champions League titles. He also won the World Cup with Italy in 2006. However, Pirlo struggled with injuries and form this season and made just 12 Serie A starts as Milan won the title.

Juve finished a disappointing season in seventh place to miss out on European qualification.

Switzerland international Reto Ziegler is set to become Juventus' second summer signing. The 25-year-old left-back is undergoing a medical in Turin before putting pen to paper on a contract with Juventus.

Ziegler will join Juve as a free agent after playing three seasons at Sampdoria.

A former Tottenham player, Ziegler scored one goal in 34 league appearances for Samp, who were relegated to the second division this season.
