Evergreen Seedorf pens new Milan deal

AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf has signed a new contract with the Rossoneri that will see the veteran remain at the San Siro until the end of the 2011-12 season.

Seedorf, 35, has been with the newly-crowned Italian champions since 2002, when he signed from city rivals Inter and has won two Serie A titles, two European Cups and one Coppa Italia in his nine years with Milan.

The former Dutch international's contract was due to expire this summer but he will now been kept on for one more year, joining captain Massimo Ambrosini, Thiago Silva, Mark van Bommel, Flavio Roma, Alessandro Nesta and Filippo Inzaghi in signing new deals.

A statement from Milan read: "AC Milan announce that Clarence Seedorf has extended his contract until June 30, 2012.''

Milan have built a reputation for keeping players at the top of their game well into their late 30s and Seedorf has continued to be an integral part of the Massimiliano Allegri's side this season, scoring four goals in 30 appearances as the Rossoneri won their first Scudetto since 2004.

Seedorf is Milan's all-time leading foreign appearance-maker, with his 401 matches putting him ahead of Nils Liedholm (394), Karl Heinz Schenllinger (334), Andriy Shevchenko (332) and Dida (302).
