Udinese snub €35m Sanchez bid

Udinese have turned down a €35 million offer for Inter Milan and Manchester City target Alexis Sanchez, the Serie A club have confirmed.

• Juve miss out on Europe
• AC Milan 0-0 Udinese

Chile international Sanchez helped Udinese finish fourth in the Italian league to qualify for the Champions League preliminary stages and has been strongly linked with a move away from the Stadio Friuli.

The Italian press reported that both City and dethroned Italian champions Inter were preparing bids for the 22-year-old forward and Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo has revealed he rejected a huge offer from an unnamed club.

"We have an offer of €35 million which we have turned down. I do not want to name the club, out of respect," Pozzo said.

"For me Sanchez is worth the same as (Lionel) Messi. It's difficult to find other players of his level. Only two or three players are born like him in a given generation.

"Sanchez is young and we would like him to stay for another year. Besides, we believe he is worth much more."

Sanchez, who scored 12 goals in 31 league appearances for Udinese this season, is under contract until June 2014.
