Hiddink reveals advisory role

Guus Hiddink has revealed Roman Abramovich still uses him in an official advisory role at Chelsea, despite the fact he left the Blues two years ago.

Hiddink's latest revelations will only fuel suggestions that he may be lined up as a permanent replacement for Carlo Ancelotti this summer, after Chelsea failed to win a single trophy despite spending £75 million in the January transfer window.

Current Turkey boss Hiddink briefly took charge of the Stamford Bridge club in February 2009, leading them to FA Cup success after replacing Luiz Felipe Scolari.

He left at the end of the season, but the Dutchman says he has been used by Abramovich as an advisor ever since, a revelation that could serve to undermine Ancelotti's position at the club. Hiddink is already considering offers from Ajax and PSV Eindhoven, both of which are roles upstairs, but he is yet to clarify his future.

"It works well with Chelsea. Since I left two years ago I've been advising the club on things concerning the squad," he wrote in De Telegraaf. "Sometimes I become a sounding board. It costs me very little time and I can combine it well with my position with Turkey. There is no conflict at all."

Switching focus to a potential return to Dutch football, where he has been offered a place on the Ajax board by Johan Cruyff, Hiddink said: "He asked me before to work with Ajax to sit on the board.

"In itself it seems to me a great challenge but I am worried about the practicalities although it might be less complex than a role of adviser."
