Italy international Rossi has been linked with several clubs, including Serie A sides Inter Milan and Juventus, but Spanish champions Barca are believed to be on the brink of finalising a deal.

Spanish radio station Cadena Ser claim a four-year contract has been agreed but the clubs are still haggling over the final transfer fee, with Villarreal holding out for €35 million.

Rossi is pleased to be attracting the attention of some of Europe's biggest clubs but is happy to let the speculation play itself out, one way or another.

"It's nice when Moratti [Inter's president] admires a player or there are certain clubs like Barcelona interested," said Rossi. "In this period, It's normal that there are certain rumours, but I remain calm and don't pay much attention to them."

The former Manchester United striker is joint third in La Liga's goalscorer chart with 18, tied with David Villa and behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
