Real Madrid complete Altintop capture

Real Madrid have signed Turkey midfielder Hamit Altintop on a free transfer from Bayern Munich, the La Liga side have announced on their official wesbite.

• Kaka denies Real Madrid exit talk
• Blog: Review of Mourinho's first year

Altintop, 28, has ended his four-year spell with Bayern, in which time he won two Bundesliga titles and two German Cups, as well as helping the Bavarians reach last season's Champions League final.

A statement on Real's official website read: "Real Madrid and the Bayern Munich player Hamit Altintop have reached an agreement which will see him tied to the club for the next four seasons.''

The arrival of Altintop, who won the 2010 Ferenc Puskas Goal of the Year award for a stunning volley in a Euro 2012 qualifier against Kazakhstan, has raised eyebrows among many Madrid fans as he has been a fringe player at Bayern, starting just eight league games this season.

Altintop has 55 caps and six goals for Turkey, and scored 11 goals in 99 appearances in all competitions for Bayern.

Altintop joins Mesut Ozil and Nuri Sahin as the third German-born player of Turkish descent in the Bernabeu ranks and the versatile former Schalke star can play anywhere across midfield and has even previously played at right-back for club and country.

Sahin, 22, became Jose Mourinho's first signing of the summer after joining Real on a six-year deal from Borussia Dortmund last week.
