Frustrated Defoe warns Spurs

Jermain Defoe has spoken of his frustration with how his season has panned out and has warned Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp that he will not accept a bit-part role at White Hart Lane.

The England international has had to endure a season of frustration, as on the back of a campaign blighted by injury he has bagged just four Premier League goals - compared to 18 the previous campaign.

Defoe has been forced to warm the bench on occasions, with Redknapp electing to partner either Peter Crouch or Roman Pavlyuchenko with Rafael van der Vaart in attack.

The striker is convinced he has plenty to offer Tottenham and will deliver goals if given the opportunity, but will not accept being forced to play second fiddle.

"It is frustrating," Defoe told Sky Sports News about how his season has panned out. "At the end of the day I am ambitious and want to play every game and score goals, especially for a fantastic club like Tottenham. It has always been like that since the first day I walked in the door.

"I have always said I want to play games. I truly believe that if I play games I will score goals, my record shows that."

Commenting on his future, Defoe refused to rule out leaving White Hart Lane for a fresh challenge.

"Players come and go and that is football and that is out of my hands," he said. "The main thing is playing football and if I am not playing football I am not happy. I keep saying I want to score goals and help the club achieve things and win trophies.

"But when you feel like you are doing everything and working hard, being professional and live your life right, and for some reason you are not playing it is difficult."
