Botafogo hold Seedorf transfer talks

Brazilian side Botafogo have met with Clarence Seedorf's representatives as they step up their bid to sign the AC Milan veteran, according to reports.

• Botafogo bid for Seedorf
• Mexes and Taiwo delight

Botafogo are eager to secure a deal for the much sort after 35-year-old and Italian TV channel Sky Sport 24 claim representatives from both sides held a four hour meeting on Tuesday, at which the Brazilian club made an offer to the Dutchman.

Seedorf's contract with the Rossoneri expires this week and he is due to hold talks with Milan vice president Adriano Galliani to discuss a possible extension. However, Botafogo are hopeful that the midfielder's links with Brazil will sway his decision.

President Mauricio Assumpao told TV Globo: "Botafogo are counting on the player's desire to play and live in Rio. Seedorf is married to a Brazilian and has a house in Rio. We have a marketing strategy already worked out to satisfy our financial needs and the player's too."

Seedorf recently revealed that he has received six offers for his services, and it appears as many as three may have come from Brazil, with Corinthians and Flamengo also believed to be interested.
