Stekelenburg eyes move abroad
Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg will reject a new contract offer from the club as he has set his sights on a move abroad, according to his agent.
Stekelenburg is rated at around £15 million and has been attracting the interest of Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United as the three Premier League clubs look to bolster their goalkeeping ranks this summer.
However, Ajax are willing to give the Dutch international a contract until 2015 in a bid to ward off admirers, although agent Rob Jansen admits it may be a fruitless endeavour.
"We are obviously listening to what Ajax want. They have always been a good employer and we have a good relationship," he told Algemeen Dagblad. "However, Maarten has clearly set his sights on a transfer to a good club in a bigger league."
The 28-year-old's current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2012, and Schalke have also emerged as contenders for his signature after the expected departure of their goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to Bayern Munich.
