Hertha Berlin have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Thomas Kraft from Bayern Munich.
Kraft, 22, has joined the 2. Bundesliga champions on a free transfer and signed a four-year contract.
''Hertha BSC is a big challenge for me,'' Kraft told the club's official website. ''General manager Michael Preetz and coach Markus Babbel have completely convinced me with their vision for Hertha. I am really looking forward to going with Hertha on their way into the Bundesliga.''
Kraft was handed the chance to stake his claim to be Bayern'sNo. 1 when former coach Louis van Gaal promoted him to first choice after the winter break, but a series of high-profile mistakes raised questions over his suitability for the role.
Kraft's contract was due to expire at the end of the season and, with Bayern making no secret of their desire to sign Schalke's Manual Neuer, he decided to move on.
Hertha have already wrapped up the second division title, a year after they were relegated from the Bundesliga.
