Tigana departs Bordeaux

Jean Tigana has left his position as head coach of Bordeaux after Saturday's 4-0 defeat to Sochaux.

• Ligue 1: Lille extend lead

Tigana took over at the French Ligue 1 side when Laurent Blanc left to replace Raymond Domenech as national team boss in May 2010.

The 55-year-old has guided Bordeaux to a disappointing ninth place in France's top flight, 18 points behind current league leaders Lille.

He said he took the decision to leave after his daughter was subjected to abuse.

"It was a disastrous evening for the club and me," Tigana said. "My daughter was harassed in the stands. She's already getting hassle at school, so I'm taking the decision to end my journey with Bordeaux."

Tigana was part of les Bleus' European Championship-winning squad in 1984, and also had a spell as boss of English club Fulham between 2000-03 before spending two years at Besiktas.
