'Pep's Barca better than Dream Team'
Former Barcelona player Ronald Koeman claims that Pep Guardiola's current side are better than the team he played in under Johan Cryuff.
Koeman scored the goal that earned Barcelona their first European Cup at Wembley in 1992 and was a part of the side that won four consecutive La Liga titles in the early 1990s to earn the nickname 'The Dream Team'.
A young Guardiola was also a member of Cryuff's team but raised the bar when he returned to manage the side in 2008. In his first season he picked up an unprecedented six trophies, while also landing the League title and Spanish Super Cup the following season.
This year, Barcelona are in the final of the Champions League and are set to claim a third La Liga title in succession as they are eight points ahead of Real Madrid with four games remaining; a feat Koeman believes tips the balance in their favour.
"This team have improved in many areas on ours, it is much better," the Dutchman told daily Mundo Deportivo. "We were able to play the very best game but also the worst. We weren't as consistent as this team."
Barcelona host city rivals Espanyol on Sunday evening and could seal the title if they win and Real Madrid lose to Sevilla.
