Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund have agreed to sign Ilkay Gundogan from Nurnberg for next season.
Gundogan, 21, has been offered a four-year contract and should put pen to paper in the near future.
"We have reached a fundamental agreement with his club and the player," Dortmund's director of sport Michael Zorc told the club's official website. "It will be formalised in due course."
Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp added: "He has a fantastic attitude and is very clever and keen to learn.
"Ilkay has an excellent passing game and is overall a very high quality player who fits perfectly into our system."
The Germany Under-21 midfielder could help replace Nuri Sahin, who according to reports is likely to move to Spain this summer.
