Bale, Wilshere set sights on derby glory

Gareth Bale and Jack Wilshere, fresh from their successful evenings at the PFA Awards, have both set their sights on North London derby glory as Tottenham aim to keep their Champions League dream alive and Arsenal try to stay in the title hunt.

• RVP: cut out 'criminal' errors
• Redknapp denies Chelsea contact
• Bale: I'm happy at Tottenham

Last season saw Tottenham win this fixture via a tremendous winner from lesser-spotted substitute Danny Rose, and this season's earlier meeting at Emirates Stadium saw Spurs win despite going two goals down to Arsenal.

Bale, awarded the PFA Player of the Year award by his fellow players, said: "I remember last season how big that win over Arsenal was and how it set us up for the run-in. We've won the last two league games against Arsenal, which has been positive and will give us a lot of confidence going into Wednesday.

"We've got a massive seven games coming up to get into the Champions league and all my thoughts are still on that. I want to play in the Champions League with Tottenham next season and that's my main target. We're three points behind Manchester City with a game in hand. There's no reason why we can't do it."

Wednesday night is Spurs' chance of a first Double over Arsenal since the 1992-93 season.

Young Player of the Year Wilshere meanwhile still believes Arsenal can catch Manchester United, by beating them at Emirates Stadium after a win at White Hart Lane.

Wilshere: "It is massive for the fans. It's the one they want to win all year. So we have to put the Liverpool result behind us, and we have to go to Tottenham and not just do it for the fans but do it for ourselves and keep our title hopes alive."

"As long as we believe and still think it is on we just have to hope," Wilshere added. "We are confident United will drop points.

"They still have to come to the Emirates and if we beat them there. Maybe we can put them on a bad run. We have to start winning games. We know that now. It's six cup finals left."

When asked whether he believed Arsenal can still win the title, he said: "Yeah, 100%. If we don't believe then what chance have we got? We have to believe. That is one of the many things in football. And we know the manager believes. Maybe the fans are starting not to believe but they are great every week, they are behind us. We have to repay that."

With both players having set out their targets for the rest of the season, they will now clash at White Hart on Wednesday evening.
