Ancelotti planning ahead

Carlo Ancelotti says he has not given up hope of staying at Chelsea and has already begun to think about next season.

Ancelotti has already conceded that he may be sacked in the summer, claiming he would have "no problem" with the decision, but he insists he will fight for his job when he meets with the board to discuss his future.

"I want to stay and if there is a possibility to do that I will be happy," Ancelotti said. "Some things have been wrong this season and I could do some things better but we have to speak about what was wrong and what was good this at the end of the season.

"I have a plan for next season. We haven't spoken about it yet but I hope to have the chance to discuss this."

Despite being uncertain on his future on Stamford Bridge, Ancelotti insists he would rather be left in limbo than be sacked rashly in the wake of a bad result.

"You can take a decision without a cold mind," he said. "It's better to wait and see what happens at the end of the season. At the end, when the balls have stopped, we can speak about this."

Many of Chelsea's players have come under criticism this season, with the likes of John Terry and Frank Lampard rumoured to be on their way out of Stamford Bridge, but Ancelotti insists the Chelsea squad are still capable of winning silverware and says they are not living on borrowed time at Stamford Bridge.

"I don't think they're playing for their futures," he said. "The club believes the players here are strong enough to play for Chelsea, but I think they want to show a reaction."
