Sevilla winger Jesus Navas could miss the remainder of the Primera Division season because of injury.
Navas has suffered a stress fracture in his left leg and, depending on his recovery, is set to be absent for between four to six weeks.
With the Spanish season scheduled to end on the weekend of May 22, Navas faces a race against time if he is to feature again.
Sevilla are fifth in the standings with 46 points, one more than Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao and two clear of Espanyol with seven games remaining. They are eight points behind fourth-placed Villarreal and the Champions League spots.
In their remaining games Gregorio Manzano's side have to face the likes of Real Madrid, Villarreal and Espanyol.
