Bojan set to miss run-in

Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic is almost certainly out for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury during Saturday's Primera Division victory over Almeria.

La Liga round-up

Bojan, who has scored six times this season, started up front in place of David Villa in the 3-1 win at the Camp Nou but lasted just half an hour before suffering a partially ruptured ligament in his right knee that could keep him out for up to two months.

A statement on Barcelona's website read: "The bad news for the young Catalan came after he was carried off on the half-hour.

"Tests showed that his injury will probably rule him out for the rest of the season, with doctors predicting a six-to-eight-week recovery period."

Pep Guardiola added in his post-match press conference that the injury was "a great shame for both the player and club", as well as lamenting the news that Javier Mascherano will be unavailable for next weekend's game at Real Madrid after he picked up his fifth booking of the season.

Nonetheless, with Barca currently eight points ahead of their rivals with seven games remaining, Guardiola outlined his determination to secure all three points at the Bernabeu to put the title beyond Madrid's reach.

"We have an opportunity to deliver a decisive blow in terms of the league," he said. "Obviously if we lose then the lead will be cut to five points with six games to play."
