Fan takes legal action over shot

Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has revealed the club is being sued by a fan struck by a wayward Djibril Cisse shot.

A fan was knocked unconscious by a shot while watching a training session and has begun the process of legal action against the club.

"We had a supporter who got a bad injury," he told BBC Newcastle. "I think it was one of Djibril Cisse's misses where he had a shot from 20 yards.

"I'm making fun of it now, but it knocked a supporter out. It was quite serious. That supporter is in the process of suing us right now. It was one of those things."

Cisse, currently with Panathinaikos, spent the 2008-09 season on loan at Sunderland from Marseille.
