Best blow for Newcastle
Newcastle United have confirmed that striker Leon Best will miss the remainder of the season due to an ankle injury.
Best has missed the club's past two games with the problem and Newcastle have decided he will now require surgery, which will be conducted in London.
The striker's absence comes as a blow to the Magpies as he has scored six goals in ten Premier League appearances this season.
Meanwhile, midfielder Danny Guthrie says he is hoping to play a more prominent role in the remainder of the season, having been restricted to only eight league starts due to injury and loss of form.
"I've had a frustrating season," Guthrie told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle. "It had been six weeks since I'd played when we played Wolves the other day, so it's been tough. It's always difficult to get into a game, let alone the pressure of this game like Wolves, but I was really pleased.
"Like anyone, I can only get better with games, and hopefully I can have a little run in the team now. It's strange how it works out - you're not involved for six weeks, and then you could be looking at a run of two or three games. I was pleased to get 90 minutes. I felt good, and can only get better. My sharpness and fitness can only improve."
