Brad Friedel's agent has revealed the veteran goalkeeper is close to agreeing a new deal at Aston Villa.
Friedel, 39, is out of contract this summer but, having convinced Gerard Houllier that he can prolong his career at the top level, he appears set to sign an extension.
"We are in talks over a new contract," agent Tony Gill said. "Brad is very happy at Villa. If Brad was not happy, he would not be talking over a new contract.
"I have spoken with [Villa] chief executive Paul Faulkner and talks are going very well indeed."
Back-up goalkeeper Andy Marshall recently committed to a new one-year deal.
