Injured Lennon leaves England camp

Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon is the latest player to leave the England squad ahead of Tuesday's friendly with Ghana, after returning to his club for tests on a hamstring complaint.

England claimed a confident win over Wales in Euro 2012 qualifying on Saturday, after which manager Fabio Capello gave John Terry, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney, Ashley Cole and Michael Dawson the green light to sit out the Ghana clash.

The Italian's decision has drawn criticism from fans who have already paid for their tickets, as the withdrawal of five players who started at the Millennium Stadium will see England field a signifcantly weakened team.

And after Aston Villa's on-loan right-back Kyle Walker was also released from the squad due to a groin injury, Lennon becomes the seventh player to be pulled out of the game.

The Spurs winger, who has made 19 appearances for England, complained of discomfort in his hamstring on Monday and is now set for further tests back at his club.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp will no doubt be sweating on the extent of the injury as he is already without the services of star winger Gareth Bale, who is a doubt for the club's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid on April 5.
