Weiss keen to extend Rangers stay

On-loan winger Vladimir Weiss has indicated his desire to stay at Rangers if the club are able to agree a deal with his parent club Manchester City.

Weiss, 21, has enjoyed an impressive campaign at Ibrox after moving north of the border on a season-long loan last August.

And with his Eastlands future uncertain, Weiss said he would happy to extend his stay at Rangers if summer talks with City reveal that he is deemed surplus to requirements.

"I have to speak with Manchester City about their plans," Weiss said. "If they say I can go on loan again, and if Rangers want me, then I'd be happy to stay."

And The Slovakia international, who has scored five goals and contributed nine assists in the SPL this season, admits he has relished the opportunity to challenge for silverware, and believes the Gers will beat Celtic to the league title.

"We only have the league to focus on," Weiss said. "We have no other distractions and it is a nice position to be in that if we win all our games we will win the league," added Weiss.

"Until last weekend, all talk was that Celtic were going to win the treble - but we've claimed one trophy and can feel more confident now.

Weiss also backed Rangers' decision to appoint Ally McCoist as permanent successor to Walter Smith at the end of the season.

"Ally has been terrific and has helped me along. He is the right man to take over from Walter and will have success on his own in the next few years," Weiss said.
