Ballardini hopes for Genoa stay
Genoa coach Davide Ballardini wants to stay at the club next season.
Ballardini, who replaced the sacked Gian Piero Gasperini back in November, has yet to be offered a contract extension with his current deal ending this summer.
"I have received other offers but I would like to stay here,'' Ballardini said to Gazzetta dello Sport. "I still don't know where I will be next season.''
Reports in Italy claim Genoa president Enrico Preziosi is looking to make a coaching change this summer. However, those rumours are not troubling Ballardini.
"The president is absolutely free to make his own decisions just as I am,'' he said. "We are all free people. I am grateful to Preziosi for bringing me here and we have a mutual respect, so what ever happens, happens.''
Genoa have 39 points from 30 matches, putting them 12th in Serie A. They host Cagliari on Sunday.
