Levein relishing Brazil challenge

Scotland coach Craig Levein says he cannot wait for his side to test themselves against the might of Brazil, having admired the five-time World Cup winners from afar for many years.

• Preview: Scotland v Brazil
• Rewind: Brazil's brush with greatness

Brazil and Scotland do battle in a friendly match at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, the first time the two nations have met since the South Americans triumphed 2-1 in the opening match of the 1998 World Cup.

And Levein is relishing the opportunity to face the Selecao, whose football has always enterained him and whose reputation inspired a sense of romaticism in the Scotland boss.

"I'm from an era when football first came in colour television and I remember seeing their amazing strips for the first time - what a brilliant strip," Levein said. "Also every time the camera panned to the crowd there were always a few nice looking faces!

"There's a romanticism about Brazil. They had the best players and did things even we'd never seen before. They had great names like Socrates - what a name, eh?

"It's almost always pure excitement when you see them. When you play against them you should see it as a challenge and an opportunity."
