Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has not given up hope of the Anfield club achieving European qualification for next season.
Reina and his teammates were eliminated from the Europa League by Braga on Thursday and Kenny Dalglish's team know a fifth place finish in the Premier League is their only realistic route into continental competition for next term.
"We know finishing fifth will be difficult," the Spanish goalkeeper told the Daily Mirror. "But having Tottenham still in the Champions League can maybe distract them a little bit.
"We have to win at least seven from nine. We have to raise ourselves now, there's no question. We are a good team, but we have to be a better one. Everyone needs to think about improving and getting better.
"We are really good against the top sides, but unfortunately we don't play them every week. We have to find the balance that makes us strong throughout the season, not just for a few games."
