Kean insists his job is safe

Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean believes he is not in danger of the sack despite a dismal run of form which has seen the club sink towards the Premier League relegation zone.

Rovers face a six-pointer against Blackpool at Ewood Park on Saturday and a defeat would increase fears that the club could drop into the Championship.

Kean insists he remains in constant contact with Venky's chairwoman Anuradha Desai and there is no sign that the new owners' support is wavering.

Kean said: "I'm not feeling under any pressure, none at all. I've spoken to Mrs Desai the same amount of times as usual and her tone, her backing and her enthusiasm have been consistent - so that's positive.

"I'm confident, first of all because of the terms of the 2½-year contract I signed.

"The owners have stated the contract will run for that duration of time, otherwise it would have been pointless me signing it. I have a good relationship with the owners, I also have a very good group of players and a good staff.

"The only pressure I feel is from myself."
