Europa League could be end for Robben

Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben has hinted he could quit the club if they miss out on Champions League football next season, claiming he can't even imagine playing in the Europa League.

Bayern are fourth in the Bundesliga, two points behind Hannover in the last Champions League qualifying berth, and are in real danger of missing out on European football's flagship tournament next season.

And Dutch international Robben, who has played 52 games in the Champions League with PSV Eindhoven, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern, is eager not to drop down a level.

"I cannot imagine that (playing in the Europa League)," the 27-year-old told Bild. "That is the worst that can happen. I think it is better if you don't play in it at all.

"Even winning the Europa League would not mean anything for me. That is not the title you want to win and it is not something I want."

Bayern lost 3-2 at home to Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday night, so the club's only route back into the competition is via a top-three finish in the Bundesliga.

Robben's contract with Bayern runs until 2013 but there will be no shortage of suitors should he want to leave the Allianz Arena.
