Toulalan signs new deal with Lyon

Lyon midfielder Jeremy Toulalan has signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until 2015.

Toulalan, who joined the club from Nantes in 2006, has been short of his best since he took part in the France team's protests at the World Cup in South Africa but Lyon coach Claude Puel admitted he was delighted with Toulalan's decision to extend his contract.

"Jeremy is a player with a very good mentality. He has made enormous progress technically," Puel said. "I hope that with the club he can fulfil his record in terms of titles. He returned to a very high level, which is obviously good for the team.

"Jeremy is someone loyal and a worker, which allows players to shine and express themselves on the offensive," Toulalan added on the club's website. "I am very pleased to have extended my contract.

"I feel good in this city, it goes very well with the team. For me, I am evolving into the best team in France. I had a choice: it was either I prolonged my career and I was at Lyon, or I was leaving. I chose to stay in Lyon and finish my career at this club.''

The France international, capped 36 times, joins Remy Vercoutre, Jeremy Pied and Anthony Reveillere in extending his contract at Lyon.
