Ajax cruise, win for Feyenoord

Ajax cruised to a 4-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar to narrow the gap on Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven to nine points.

Eredivisie: PSV maintain advantage

Demy De Zeeuw got the ball rolling after only five minutes, but they had to wait until the second half for Siem De Jong, Lorenzo Ebecilo and Vurnon Anita to make sure. AZ were already 3-0 down when Graziano Pelle was sent off for a rash challenge on Dario Cvitanich.

Feyenoord put further space between themselves and the Eredivisie drop zone with a fortuitous 1-0 victory at Heerenveen.

Luc Castaignos scored the only goal 12 minutes from time against the run of play as the Rotterdam club extended their unbeaten league run to five matches.

FC Groningen fell out of the top four with a 4-1 hammering at home to Heracles Almelo. The result means they have lost their last three games, conceding 13 goals in the process, after maulings by Roda JC and Feyenoord.

A late goal from Leon de Kogel snatched a 1-1 draw for FC Utrecht in their mid-table clash with Roda JC. The visitors held the advantage for much of the match thanks to Mads Junker's first-half penalty, but their defence was eventually breached by substitute De Kogel eight minutes from time.
