AC Milan target Mexes swoop
AC Milan are interested in signing Roma defender Philippe Mexes this summer, with Italian newspaper Il Corriere Dello Sport claiming that a deal has already been agreed.
Mexes' future has been the subject of speculation for some time as he has consistently refused to sign a new contract with Roma.
His current deal expires in the summer and the Rossoneri are waiting in the wings to sign him on a free transfer should that situtation remain unchanged.
"If Mexes does not renew his contract with Roma, we are interested in the player," Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani telling Gazzetta dello Sport.
The France centre-back has been identified as a possible replacement for 34-year-old Alessandro Nesta, whose contract also expires at the end of the season.
Reports in Italy claim that Mexes, 28, has already agreed a €4 million-a-year deal with Milan and, should he leave Roma, the Gialorossi are believed to be tracking Dortmund centre-back Neven Subotic, as well as Fenernahce's Diego Lugano and Bologna's Migel Britos.
