Bridge lauds 'positive' boss Grant

West Ham defender Wayne Bridge has praised the man-management skills of his boss Avram Grant, insisting he is a "positive person" who makes "players feel good about themselves".

• Blog: Hammers finally nail it

Grant's often dour exterior during games has previously led fans and pundits alike to question his passion, though his players at stricken Portsmouth often praised his abilities as a motivator.

And with the Hammers manager currently in the midst of another relegation scrap this season, Bridge has defended Grant against accusations that he lacks passion.

"Avram is a character," Bridge said. "Sitting in team meetings, you realise what a positive person and manager he is.

"Everything is geared to making the players feel good about themselves and going on to the pitch with the right attitude.

"Avram wants everyone to be positive on the pitch, to get forward and play attractive, attacking football."

Grant's West Ham recorded an impressive 3-1 victory over Liverpool on Sunday and are now just one point away from safety, with a home clash with Stoke awaiting them this weekend.
