Sensi praise for departing Ranieri
Roma paid a glowing tribute to Claudio Ranieri following the coach's decision to leave the club after the 4-3 defeat at Genoa, a game which the Giallorossi had led 3-0.
Roma president Rosella Sensi said: ''I want to thank Ranieri for the work done in the past two years with professionalism, seriousness and dedication. Those were the characteristics that led me to offer him the job in the first place in what was a delicate time for the club.
''No-one can take away the emotions that he gave us last season, when we battled back to remain in the Scudetto race with Inter Milan, or the derbies won against Lazio.
''He has given our fans and my family indescribable moments that will remain in Roma's history. His decision to leave in order to give the team a spark can only honour the man. I can only imagine how hard this decision was for him, as a Roman, as a fan of our team.
''I wish the man and the coach a fantastic future with all the professional success he deserves.''
Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has labelled Ranieri's offer to step down as ''an act of great responsibility and dignity''.
''Ranieri's resignation is an act of great responsibility and dignity,'' said Prandelli. ''I don't know the dynamics of the team so I cannot enter into specifics.
''But we all remember last year's Roma that managed to keep up with Inter until the end of the season. The Italian league is very difficult and you have to have the right mentality and continuity in form to do well. I think that when something breaks, the responsibility is not just of one person.''
