Ipswich boss Paul Jewell says that he is keen to bring in Aston Villa defender Habib Beye, but has so far been forced to admit defeat.
Jewell has turned his attention to Beye, who has made just seven league starts for Villa since joining from Newcastle in 2009, after failing to persuade Pascal Chimbonda to snub Championship leaders QPR.
"We are trying to bring a couple of players into the squad, as I have been since I've been here,'' he said. ''Habib Beye has been mentioned and I've spoken to Aston Villa and that's something I've been trying to do to improve the squad. But there's been nothing yet.
"He was in France [on Wednesday]. I hope he comes but I have not heard anything since Wednesday."
