United lose Park for four weeks

Manchester United will be without Park Ji-Sung for a month after the midfielder sustained a hamstring injury in training on Friday.

• Berbatov set for new deal
• Crawley ban fan

Park has only been back with United for two weeks after spending the whole of January with South Korea at the AFC Asian Cup. He has not featured for the first team since reporting back for duty at the club's Carrington training complex.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson told the club's official website: "We got a blow on Saturday morning with the news that Park Ji-Sung did his hamstring on Friday afternoon in training. It was very unfortunate because it was his last kick of the ball in training as well.

"We were really looking forward to having him back after being away for a month at the Asian Cup. He'll be out for up to a month, which is a blow to us.''

Though Park is usually a squad player at United, he is often used in vital matches due to his work-rate and versatility.

However, Sir Alex has been boosted by the news that Antonio Valencia, who broke his ankle and suffered ligament damage against Rangers in a Champions League group match, is back in training.

He added: "The good news is that Valencia started training with the reserves on Saturday, so he's on his way back and that will be a real boost to have him available for the run-in.''
