Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is in discussions over a lucrative new contract, according to reports in the British press on Tuesday morning.
Berbatov, the top scorer in the Premier League with 19 goals to his name, has just over a year left on his current deal and United want to tie him to a longer agreement before the start of next season.
It is thought the 30-year-old will sign a deal worth around £175,000-a-week - a massive increase on his current weekly wage of £100,000.
Berbatov endured a slow start to his career at Old Trafford following his big money move from Tottenham Hotspur, but he has finally found top form this term, scoring three top-flight hat-tricks.
Berbatov's agent, Emil Dantchev, is believed to have held initial talks on Sunday, travelling to Manchester to meet with the club's chief executive, David Gill. The former Bulgaria international is likely to pen a two-year extension to his contract, running through to the summer of 2014.
