Inter Milan set for Juve test

Inter Milan will have to overcome a major hurdle this weekend in their pursuit of another Serie A title.

The defending champions travel to Turin on Sunday night to meet Juventus, who despite trailing leaders AC Milan by 11 points still harbour hopes of winning the scudetto.

Inter, meanwhile, are five points adrift of Milan but just two points behind second-placed Napoli and with a game in hand.

''Inter versus Juve or Juve versus Inter have always been important games, always charged with tension,'' said Inter president Massimo Moratti. ''The important thing is that everything goes smoothly. We know it's an important game for us and for them.

''It's always been the derby d'Italia and, regardless of the teams' positions in the standings, it remains like that.''

Juve lie eighth, six points behind third-placed Inter, who have won their last three league games. An Inter slip would be welcomed by Milan as they look to bounce back from consecutive draws to Lazio and Genoa with victory against Parma on Saturday.

Napoli's scudetto ambitions will be put to the test when they travel to the Stadio Olimpico to face Roma. The Naples outfit has lost just once in their last six games and lie second in the standings, three points behind Milan.

Lazio have won just once in their past four games and a defeat at Brescia on Sunday could see them drop out of the top four. The Biancoceleste are holding onto the last Champions League qualifying spot but are just two points clear of in-form Palermo and Udinese.

Udinese have not lost since December 19 and are looking to extend their seven-match unbeaten run when they travel to second-bottom Cesena.

Palermo go into their home game against Fiorentina having won their last seven games at La Favorita. Fiorentina, meanwhile, have yet to win away from home.

Lecce will be buoyed by the return of the team's top scorer David Di Michele when they make the journey to Sicily to face Catania. Di Michele missed last weekend's 4-2 defeat to Palermo that ended Lecce's six-match unbeaten run.

Sampdoria coach Domenico Di Carlo heads into Sunday's game against Bologna under immense pressure. Samp have mustered just one win in the last two months and their poor run of form has seen them drop to 14th place.

Sunday's encounter at the Sant' Elia between Cagliari and Chievo will be a battle of mid-table teams. Cagliari are one point clear of Chievo.

Bottom-side Bari host Genoa looking to end a run of six successive losses. Giampiero Ventura's side are nine points behind Catania, who hold the last position of safety.
